Connect Slack and ask about releases
Deliver release briefs to a channel and ask scoped questions with explicit mentions.
Before you start
- Owner or admin access in Specita.
- Permission to install the Specita app in the chosen Slack workspace and channel.
Set up the connection
Install from Specita
Open Settings → Release brief delivery → Connect Slack. Select your Slack workspace and destination channel, then approve the displayed permissions. You do not need to create your own Slack app or provide client credentials.
Set delivery filters
Enable delivery and choose your production-only and minimum-risk preferences. One Slack team can connect to only one Specita workspace.
Send a preview
Use the test-message action to check the destination and layout. The preview is sample content, not a real release record.
Ask in a release thread
Reply to a Specita release brief and explicitly mention the installed app, for example: @Specita what changed? Mentions outside a mapped release thread use a labeled latest-release fallback when available.
Check your setup
- The settings show the expected Slack workspace and channel.
- A preview reaches that channel.
- A release-thread mention returns context for that release; provider installation alone is not proof that mention handling works.
Troubleshooting
Mention gets no reply
Confirm the app is in the channel, mention the actual installed bot, and reconnect if permissions changed. The user asking must have linked identity and current Specita workspace access; installation is not permission for everyone in Slack.
Workspace already connected elsewhere
Review the existing Specita workspace connection. Do not install the same Slack team into another workspace to bypass the boundary.
A brief never arrives
Check delivery enabled, environment/risk filters, and the release’s recorded brief state. A sample preview does not test automatic delivery.
Credential safety
Slack credentials are exchanged server-side and encrypted. Access is rechecked before answering; do not paste integration secrets into Slack.
