Integration guide

Connect App Store Connect

Create the right Apple API key, upload its .p8 file, and map an iOS app.

Before you start

  • An Apple Developer account with an app in App Store Connect.
  • API access approved by your Account Holder.
  • Owner or admin access in your Specita workspace.

Access required for Connect App Store Connect
AccessWhy it is needed
Individual key · preferredUse a dedicated non-admin user with access only to the intended apps. The key inherits that user’s role and app access; it is not inherently read-only.
Apple roleChoose the least role that permits app listing. Developer is a practical non-admin starting point, not a read-only role. Review Apple’s role matrix with your Account Holder; do not grant Admin merely to connect Specita.
Team key · alternativeAn Account Holder or Admin can generate it, but the key itself should have a limited non-admin role. Apple team keys cannot be restricted to selected apps.
Specita requestsThe current connection calls GET /v1/apps using a short-lived, endpoint-scoped JWT. It does not submit, publish, or modify apps.

Set up the connection

Which Apple key are you using?

Uses the dedicated user’s app access. You need a Key ID and .p8 file.

  1. Enable API access

Your Account Holder opens App Store Connect → Users and Access → Integrations and requests API access. If API access is already enabled, continue to the next step.

  2. Generate an individual key

Sign in as the dedicated user. Open your username → Edit Profile → Individual API Key → Generate Key. Save the Key ID and download the .p8 file. If Generate Key is unavailable, ask the Account Holder to check your key-generation permission.

  3. Upload the key in Specita

Open Integrations → App Store Connect and select your key type. Enter the Key ID and, for a team key, the Issuer ID. Choose the original .p8 file, then click Validate and connect.

  4. Map the app

Select the accessible Apple app and attach it to the correct Specita product. Check the bundle ID to confirm you selected the right app.

Check your setup

  • The connection reports connected and lists your accessible apps.
  • The intended app’s bundle ID matches the mapping.
  • A successful connection does not imply that builds or reviews have been imported.

Troubleshooting

Apple rejects the key

Check Individual versus Team, Key ID, and the matching .p8 file. Team keys also need the correct Issuer ID. Confirm the key has not been revoked.

An app is absent

Review the dedicated user’s app access in Users and Access. Connecting cannot grant access the Apple user does not already have.

TestFlight or review status is missing

The current integration supports app discovery and mapping only. Build, TestFlight, App Review, and rollout observation are not available yet.

Credential safety

Apple key downloads are one-time. Store the .p8 securely and revoke a lost key. Specita encrypts stored credentials and does not return the stored private key to the browser.
